Senior Database Performance Engineer (PostgreSQL)

At Cafeto Software, we re looking for a Database Performance Engineer to help a US-based enterprise pricing software company improve the performance and stability of the databases behind its products. This is a hands-on role focused on diagnosing and solving performance problems, not on routine database administration.

What you’ll do

• Diagnose and resolve database performance issues that affect customers in production.
• Tune SQL queries by analyzing execution plans, indexes, and statistics.
• Review and optimize custom SQL, stored procedures, and functions.
• Monitor, analyze, and stabilize database environments.
• Partner with application engineers to improve data-access patterns.

What we’re looking for

• Solid hands-on experience optimizing databases and SQL queries in production environments.
• Strong PostgreSQL skills.
• Deep understanding of execution plans, indexing strategies, and statistics.
• Experience writing and optimizing stored procedures and functions.
• Advanced English and the ability to work with distributed teams across US time zones.

Nice to have

• Experience with pg_stat_statements, EXPLAIN ANALYZE, or similar monitoring and analysis tools.
• Experience with SQL Server.
• Experience with AI-assisted development tools.
